Senior Process Engineer

Hitachi Energy is looking for a Senior Process Engineer for its South Boston, VA factory location. In this role, you will be leading the analysis of operations and the development of procedures and processes for a Focus Factory (Distribution or Power Transformers). This position will partner with the Focus Factory Manager and Focus Factory Integrated Transformer Management (ITML) to drive the strategic business needs and transformation of the Value Stream using lean and engineering principles.

Your Responsibilities

  • Perform various engineering tasks involving such functions as Value Stream Mapping, Work Instruction development, Standard Work development, Process Control plans, Capacity Analysis, Machine OEE, Capital Investments, CAPEX Mgt., Kaizen, Job Instruction Breakdown support, drawings, proposals, specifications, and other pertinent information.

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of work specifications and work instruction documents, Standard Work, Activity Based Risk assessments, Process Control documents in accordance with requirements, established formats and general instructions. Review and analyze a variety of engineering data, documents and reports.

  • Consult and collaborate with other functional groups, Quality, Health and Safety, Design Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Operations, Training and Development, ITM, to ensure that specified engineering criteria are suitable for the proposed application, and recommend revisions, as appropriate.

  • Oversee support of Process Engineers and Process Engineer technicians in the Focus Factory. Plan, conduct or coordinate relatively straight-forward engineering analyses and tests, and prepare related reports and summaries, for review Focus Factory Management team.

  • Participate in the investigation of technical problems and the establishment of procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences through Rapid Problem Solving, Root Cause Analysis, and Countermeasure development.

  • Complexity of Tasks: Duties require thorough understanding of standard engineering theories, concepts, principles and techniques. Work is subject to general overview to ensure quality. In addition, knowledge and application of Lean and Lean Six Sigma principles will be necessary to support the Focus Factory’s Strategy Deployment and Lean Transformation.

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and 5 to 10 years of experience and a demonstrated track record of Process/Manufacturing Engineering proficiency. In addition, knowledge and application of Lean/Six Sigma.

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
