Commissioning Engineer - Main circuit equipments - HVDC

The Hitachi Energy Indian Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 2600+ skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, project Management, functional system testing, installation supervision, documentation and commissioning. However, over the last decade, it has evolved to become the largest Operations hub. The India Operations Centre team at Chennai, Bangalore and Gurugram supports Hitachi Energy’s units in more than 40 countries across a wide portfolio of all the four business units in Hitachi Energy To date, the team has executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than 80 countries.

As a Commissioning Engineer you will be part of HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current), a business unit within Hitachi Energy located in Chennai. The unit develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. The HVDC technology is used to transmit electricity over long distances and for power transmission via submarine cables. HVDC is also used to connect power systems. Your Responsibilities:

  • Execute the testing & commissioning by following all best practices with respect to Hitachi Health and safety requirements.      

  • Carryout the testing & commissioning as per the documented process description and checklists. Continuous interactions with Commissioning manager and expert helpline to carry out the site works effectively.  

  • Should have experience in primary equipment testing of HV and LV equipment's. 

  • Good experience in testing & commissioning of EHV/HV AIS & GIS substations/power plants. 

  • Familiar with Auxiliary systems commissioning & trouble shooting like battery, battery charger, UPS, DG, LVS, Firefighting, HVAC etc.

  • Experience in control & protection IEDs, relay configuration and testing of different substation configurations and schemes.

  • Report Site testing & commissioning progress to Commissioning Manager and ensure efficient use of the commissioning assets like Test kits, Tools etc.

  • Handing over the marked-up drawings, Test record to commissioning Manager for preparing the As-build drawing and onward submission to customer to smooth close.  

  • Prior experience in working with HVDC system would be advantageous.                                                                            

  • Good experience on fault findings, analyzing DR/TFR.

  • Continuous learning & acquiring expertise in testing & commissioning of HVDC system to achieve the higher growth in ‘learning curve’.

Your Background:

  • Bachelor's degree or B.E in Electric Engineering.

  • Should have 2-5 years of experience.

  • Knowledge in Control & Protection / Substation / Automation system design would be an added advantage.

  • Experience in using Omicron/Freja/Doble etc type of test kits.

  • Experience in using special primary test kits (Tan-delta, SFRA, DCRM etc.).

  • Exposure to HVDC/FACTS systems.

  • Experience in technical tender support or bidding. 

  • Good knowledge of Office tools.
