General Information:

Develop, maintain, and manage a Quality Assurance (QA) Organization that is effective at ensuring compliance to all regulatory, customer and mandated requirements while driving continuous improvement of process controls to eliminate quality risks. Effectively communicate with customers and internal stakeholders in the resolution of quality issues while driving improvements that prevent recurrence. Set goals, objectives, and daily directives for direct reports. Develop quality assurance staff by planning, monitoring, and appraising job results accompanied by coaching and counseling as appropriate.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System to meet customer, ISO 9000 and industry requirements. 
  • Establish the overall Quality Vision and utilize quality engineering tools and continuous improvement methods to drive quality excellence in our processes and products.
  • Facilitate the resolution of customer quality issues and provide a professional interface that ensures effective communication with the customer and confidence that the issues are being resolved in a thorough, timely, and proactive manner.
  • Strategically identify process gaps and risks in the Quality Management System and drive improved process controls to mitigate these risks.
  • Effectively collaborate with other key managers (Engineering, Operations, Customer Service, Factory Management, etc.) to drive a total quality culture throughout the unit and to ensure alignment on quality priorities.
  • Monitor performance of key quality measures (Cost of Poor Quality, customer complaints, internal failure rates, etc.) and utilize a data-driven, cross-functional, problem-solving approach to determine root causes of failures/defects.  Drive the implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure that operations are conducted in accordance with the Company's policies and procedures and are in compliance with health and safety guidelines. Manage the resolution of complex technical problems and human resource issues. Promote and ensure fair and equitable treatment of staff.
  • Align quality initiatives with engineering, operations, safety and other organizational initiatives as a part of an overarching Integrated Transformer Management (ITM) strategy to drive process excellence through standard work, process controls, training, material controls, and productive maintenance.  Ensure process discipline and sustained performance through a cross-functional layered audit process.
  • Provide guidance and arrange for training of staff. Provide administrative support to senior managers and advise supervisors regarding complex aspects of their assignments. Manage and document employee performance and implement responsive measures.

Your Background:

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of professional experience in Quality, Engineering, Operational Excellence, or Process Improvement, with 2 years of experience managing Quality Professionals.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Requires broad knowledge of quality assurance operations and ability to independently resolve complex problems. Requires ability to manage a skilled and diverse staff, communicate effectively, represent the organization, act decisively and influence decisions of senior managers and customers. Requires foresight to anticipate problems and recognize opportunities for cost-effectively improving operations.
  • Proven expertise with ISO-9001 certification and the American Society of Quality’s body of knowledge for Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and/or Manager of Quality and Operational Excellence (CMQ/OE).
  • Experience auditing under industrial regulations (e.g. ISO, UL, ASQ, RABQSA, ANSI, ASME, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills, especially with data analysis, is heavily preferred - proven experience working with failure analysis, FMEA (Failure Modes & Effects Analysis), test engineering, and/or product reliability, SPC, Process Capability, Process Performance Analysis is a plus
  • Experience working with transformer systems and/or related technologies (electromagnetics, magnetics, induction systems, power electronics, power products, inverters) preferred
