Local Manager - HVDC Commissioning Control and Protection

As a Control and Protection Global Manager you will be part of HVDC unit. You will lead a team of Commissioning Engineers specialized in MACH, IEDs, SCADA and HMI. You will have a direct interface with our customers. You will have the opportunity to develop your expertise in HVDC technology as well as your leadership skills in a fast-paced environment and you will be have the possibility to influence a number of project with you decisions making, in order to enable the energy grid transition faster and in a bigger scale.

Your Responsibilities:

  • You manage a global team of Commissioning Engineers
  • You are responsible to recruit, train your team.
  • You are responsible of maintaining high level of quality of your team’s deliverables and execution according to project plans.
  • You are responsible for short-term and long-term planning. Organizing manning up activities of the Control and Protection scope of HVDC projects globally.
  • You are responsible for maintaining your department interfaces between other departments and customer.
  • You are driving Scope and Division of Work discussions towards other departments and customer.
  • You are responsible for your department’s existing processes and for identifying new ones where needed.
  • You are responsible for the deciding and implementing the management strategy and continues improvement projects together with the rest of the management team of Commissioning Control and Protection.
  • You assure that commitments to the customer are met and in accordance with the contract.
  • You support in tender work for commissioning scope.

Your Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer science. Masters degree in Engineering is an advantage.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • MBA or Project Management certification is an advantage.
  • Several years of experience from Control and Protection or SCADA scope from design, testing or commissioning project stages.
  • Experience in HVDC technology or AC sub-stations.
  • Experience in Commissioning work in plants of high complexity.
  • Experience with MACH technology is an advantage.
  • Experience with IEC61850, programming of IED relays is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills as well as an ability to coach others in the commissioning area.
  • Ability to work according to relevant legislations and standards but with a pragmatic and smooth way of working.
  • Capacity to handle many parallel activities.
  • Availability to travel.
