Topic: Case story of Mapragg power plant
The Kraftwerke Sarganserland AG aims to utilize the hydropower of the Sarganserland region in the Mapragg and Sarelli Hydro power plants. The three vertical axis machine groups at the Mapragg plant consist each of a three-phase synchronous motor-generator, Francis turbine (93 MW), and a detachable pump with a capacity of 53 MW. These machine groups, which were put into operation in 1977, were renewed by Hitachi Energy in 2014/2015 with new state of the art generator circuit breakers.
13:00 GCB Factory Tour
Inaugurated in 2010, Hitachi Energy's cutting-edge factory in Zurich, Switzerland stands as the sole global production facility for Hitachi Energy GCBs. The facility manufactures all GCB variants. During the tour, visitors gain insight into each production line, observing our efficient lean manufacturing and streamlined production processes.
September 25th
Visit to Mapragg Pumped Storage Power Plant.
Mapragg is a 280MW hydropower project. It is located on the Tamina River/basin in Saint Gallen, Switzerland. It was developed in a single phase. Construction of the project began in 1971 and commercial operations began in 1977. Following our event, we will visit the site to see how Hitachi Energy's GCB is performing.
