General Information:

We are looking for a R&D project manager to join our HVDC team at Hitachi Energy in USA. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with talented team of engineers across the globe working on the development of HVDC Grids and report to global R&D Project Management Office Manager for HVDC.


Your Responsibilities:

  • Interfacing third party funded R&D programs in NAM market
  • Develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates and resource plans, perform risk analysis and monitor the progress of plans against project milestones and budgets.
  • Proactively work with the team to identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with the implementation of new solutions. Develop risk management plans and strategies to respond to risks as they rise.
  • Provide technical and analytical guidance to the project team.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and review of project deliverables.
  • Analyze and document requirements by liaising with a range of users in the
  • organization.
  • On some projects, where applicable, manages the integration of vendor tasks and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables
  • Lead the development of new products, processes, or operational plans that will have impact on the achievement of functional results.
  • As an R&D Project Manager you will be a part of R&D Project Management Office. As a team we are all responsible to work on our processes, quality, learn from/help each other and to develop individually and as a team.

Your Background:

  • MSc. degree in Electric Power Engineering or similar with proven experience in HVDC and High voltage converter stations and Substation
  • 5+ years of experience in technical project management of R&D projects related to power electron converters, high voltage electrical equipment and
  • A proven track record of managing complex research and development projects from inception to completion is a plus
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with Agile and/or Waterfall project management methodologies, with the ability to adapt approaches based on project requirements and constraints.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to anticipate challenges and proactively implement solutions.
  • Ability to lead geographically dispersed teams in multi-site global environment.
  • Fluency in English required
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
