General information:

For our R&D center in Krakow, Poland, we are looking for an architect with expertise in Industrial Software and Engineering. You will join our cross-disciplinary team to design solutions that work on Cloud and physical devices with limited resources. As an architect, you will combine theory with practice by creating, testing, and validating new functionalities on both sides of Energy Connect - EC Core (services on Cloud) and EC Edge (services on IoT PC). Our tech stack includes .Net/C# components, Linux, MQTT, Docker, Kafka, Druid, Ignite, Postgres, and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities:

Contribute to and lead research and development projects designing Energy Connect software for the next generations of products and systems for power grids, green energy and related fields. Collaborate with a global team of researchers and engineers at Hitachi Energy to identify and solve real-world challenges for our customers through expertise in software design. Work on ideas and concepts of new software with business impact, turn them into prototypes, and verify them. Work with a multitude of technologies and stacks for systems, spanning from single IoT devices up to cloud solutions. Evaluate feasibility and performance of the third-party components for application in our products. Network and collaborate in the company to actively distribute your knowledge and expertise. Provide consultancy in your field of expertise to our business units. Prepare architectural designs for new services and integrations with other applications.

Your background:

Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or in a related field. Ability to translate requirements into architecture. Excellent communication skills and team player mentality. Practical experience with an IoT system, including the associated reliability, performance, and security aspects would be a big advantage. Experience with container and microservice architectures. Experience with Linux and the ARM architecture would be beneficial. Experience with different cloud computing vendors, including understanding and incorporating best practices and common principles. Experience with the event-driven and high load systems. Experience with advanced software engineering and software architecture tools. Know-how of modern design patterns, methodologies, programming languages, frameworks, and stacks. Ability to conduct all phases of a software project - conceptual work, architecture preparation, design, prototyping, and verification. Willingness to mix conceptual activities with hands-on work. Experience with some industrial/utility/automation systems and communication protocols would be a big advantage. Willingness to take an interdisciplinary approach and work with experts from domains that are different from your own area of expertise. Experience that demonstrates your team-oriented, innovative, and strategic working styles. Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
