Internship in Computational Chemistry 80 - 100 (f/m/d)

The design of high voltage (HV) devices, such as gas circuit breakers (CB) and gas insulated switchgear (GIS), requires – among others –simulations and experiments for verification of insulation and switching performance. Additionally, the research activities in the area of gas circuit breakers are enhanced by various computer-aided-engineering tools. We are looking for an intern student with expertise in computational chemistry to contribute to the development of novel insulating materials for high-voltage power grid applications. The superior goal is the achievement of high-end quality of the product. The duration of the internship is 6 to 12 months.

Your responsibilities:

  • Contribute to technology development and research activities focusing on material analysis and characterization

  • Support simulations of gas insulation systems using state of the art computational chemistry packages

  • Study the relationship between microstructure and material characteristics and document findings and present test results to the team

Your background:

  • B.Sc. degree in Material Science, Chemistry or similar discipline with focus on computer-aided methods

  • Programming skills and experience in computational chemistry is an advantage

  • Fluency in written and spoken English

  • Team player and well organized
