Hitachi Energy is looking to hire a Senior Project Engineer (Protection and Controls) for the Grid Integration business located in Raleigh, NC. This role is responsible to produce engineering deliverables such as AC/DC schematics, cable list, wiring diagrams, specifications and interact with the other project team members, the customer, and suppliers of goods and engineering services. This position can be hybrid, working onsite 3 or more days per week. Some travel may be required within U.S. and International. Local candidates preferred.
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of this position are to understand, analyze and interpret projects' requirements, develop, and design advanced protection systems, communication, and control systems for large industrial and utility applications Prepare list / schedule of technical deliverables Prepare technical specifications and conceptual design reports Preparation and/or review of single (three) line diagrams, protection, metering and control schematics & wiring/interconnection diagrams and cable lists, AC/DC auxiliary services design and physical arrangement of substation layouts Produce detailed architectures for communications networks/topologies, equipment I/O lists, specifications, construction, and commissioning specifications for substation automation systems Auxiliary system design including load calculations and equipment sizing; including AC/DC panels, auxiliary transformers, transfer switches, DC battery sizing and parameters specifications Perform, load flow, shot circuit, protection coordination studies, relay setting list and arc flash assessments as per applicable Canadian standards HV and LV Cable type selection/sizing and trays loads calculations & cable routing
Your background:
Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (preferably in Power Systems) and 5+ years of experience in the field of substations and industrial electrification Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States Good knowledge of Disconnect switches, Circuit breaker, GIS, power transformers schematics, and AC/Dc auxiliary systems Knowledge of computer engineering tools and software like ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, CYME and, AutoCAD electrical Familiarity with the following would be considered a key asset: Utility and industrial protection design concepts and hardware/software of the major IED vendors such as ABB, SEL, GE, Siemens, Schneider/Alstom, Beckwith and Basler Common utility and industrial communication protocols such as: DNP3, Modbus, IEC 60870-5-101/103/104, ICCP, IEC61850, IRIG-B, AB Data Highway+ Knowledge of IEEE, NEMA, NEC, IEC electrical standards
