Transport Outbound Specialist


General Information:

The Outbound Logistics specialist will lead and execute outbound shipments for business units into PGHV NAM (mainly ground shipments but also air & ocean when needed). The position requires making decisions which impact cost and service while meeting customer requirements as you work to continuously improve the transport execution and the logistics design for all the outbound shipments including customer service. Person should be outstanding at working with a wide diversity of stakeholders in a high matrixial organization.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Execute domestic, inbound and outbound shipments: planning and scheduling (air, ocean & ground), requesting booking with selected carrier or forwarder, coordinate pick up of the goods, assist and monitor the customs clearance process and coordinate final mile delivery.
  • Usage of a Transportation Management System (TMS) to execute domestic shipments.
  • Provide the best transportation options for shipments in terms of transit time, cost & service.
  • Track shipments utilizing carriers web portals till final delivery. Measure HE main KPIs of their assigned sites/ factories: On time pick up, On time delivery vs committed date, On time delivery vs requested date and if needed analyse causes of delay.
  • Prepare and update daily, weekly and monthly logistics reports which show status of shipments and proactively re-plan as needed to ensure on time delivery.
  • Communicates shipments status to Planning and Sales organizations as appropriate.
  • Works closely with transport service providers to assure efficient and effective execution of processes, assists in obtaining necessary transport permits and harmonization codes and prepares proper transportation paperwork and assist with export documentation.
  • Support Customs team for import and export clearance and accounts payable for freight payment reconciliation.

Your Background:

Basic Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor’s’ degree in Logistics, Foreign trade, SCM or similar specialist.
  • 5+ years of experience in transportation (managing domestic inbound / outbound shipments).
  • Proven experience working with logistics suppliers (trucking companies, freight forwarders & ocean carriers).
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently with a sense of urgency.
  • Team player with flexibility in working different shifts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual skills (English & Spanish)
  • Experience in working with advanced TMS platforms.
  • Local transport market knowledge including equipment, port and airport operations as well as relevant restrictions and regulations and legislation.
