Hitachi Energy is currently looking for an R&D Thermal Engineer for the Transformers Business to join their team in Vadodara, India. This team seeks a skilled and motivated individual.

 Devising research methods, focus on future technical direction, future scenarios in transforming technology landscape. Preparing technical specifications and specifying laboratory test equipment and processes. Making recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials within budgets and targets set. May participate in intellectual property evaluations and development of patent applications. Coordinating pilot-plant or initial production runs on new products or processes. An Experienced Professional (P2) applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. May require the following proficiency: Works independently with general supervision. Problems faced are difficult but typically not complex. May influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices.

Your Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will be part of Transformer R&D Team specialized in the Design & Development of Next Generation Transformer Bushings.

  • Perform Thermal simulations to support R&D product development teams to verify the new designs and to propose design improvements. Develop detailed documentation and specifications for thermal solutions.

  • Test object preparation, test document preparation, co-ordination with test laboratories, conduct experiments following relevant standards, analyze data, and apply findings to improve competitiveness of the product.

  • Identify potential issues / perform detailed analysis to determine failure root cause, and implement appropriate solutions.

  • Coordination with cross functional teams and global technical centers

  • As a solid R&D project member and contributor ensures alignment with assigned targets (time, cost, quality) and coordinates activities. 

  • Demonstrates sound understanding of, and actively applies, R&D processes and tools. 

  • Participates constructively in working teams. Shares own technical knowledge in own projects and supports colleagues in applying processes and tools to ensure timely and high-quality results.  Shows solid documentation skills and writes technical reports independently. 

  • Maintains recognized expertise in this area by externally reviewing current technologies.

  • Participates in networks in relevant Engineering networks, to further enhance knowledge.

Your Background

  • Mtech in thermal Engerineering.

  • 4 yrs exp in manufacturing industry.

  • Working in engineering of electrical products such as transformers, Insulators, Instrument transformers, Bushings

  • Working Experience with 3D modelling for complex assembly and production using tools like CREO (3 years)

  • CFD simulations, 3D CAD using CREO

  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
