You will be the Technical Lead Engineer for all engineering activities related to the Automation Scope of Medium and High Voltage Substations for Substation automation projects in PGGA Germany and HUB Europe Region, based in Mannheim. Reporting to the Lead Engineering Manager, you will drive excellence by ensuring that engineering, testing and commissioning activities are efficiently and cost-effectively executed in accordance with customer expectations, contract specifications, Hitachi Energy policies, quality standards and safety requirements.
Your responsibilities
Act as a technical lead and design authority for engineering deliverables across all applicable engineering disciplines
Coordinating all technical activities during the complete project duration
Working closely with customers to shape and deliver solutions and utilizing feedback to drive the delivery of innovative improvements and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction
Working closely with colleagues and engineers across various disciplines, sharing technical knowledge and best practices cross border within the HUB Europe Region
Preparing base design of substation automation systems, control and protection. Verification of the implemented base design in the detail design
Taking over parts of the detail design engineering, testing or commissioning activities in relation to the project needs
Supporting the Project Manager in the creation of subcontracts and coordinating the technical aspects with the subcontractors
Supporting project manager in cost to complete estimation, in issuing claims related to changes in project scope, including assessing cost and time impacts as well as risk quantifications
Providing technical details, costs and deliverables for Sales proposals
Health, safety and environment (HSE): Ensuring the project follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies

Your background
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
5+ years of relevant work experience in substation automation projects or similar
Strong communication skills, fluency in English and German
Knowledge about control, protection and automation systems in substations
Having strong analytical and problem-solving skills paired with a highly business savvy and result-oriented mindset
Being comfortable in ability to communicate/discuss complex technical topics with clients. Possessing a high level of self-motivation and curiosity
Being available for short/mid period travels
