We are looking for a highly motivated Support Engineer to join our 3rd level Technical Support engineering team for our Mission Critical Communications Office in Baden (Switzerland). Technical Support Engineer is the source of technical expertise in the field of telecommunications networks and applications for mission critical communications. Your responsibilities
- You are a source of technical expertise in telecommunications networks and applications for mission critical communication
- You support our worldwide customer base for their Network Management Systems. Our NMS manages Hitachi Energy Network platform UMUX, XMC20, FOX515, FOX615, providing Ethernet, MPLS-TP, Voice, Data, PDH, and SDH applications
- You do the market introduction for new technologies and applications for mission critical communications
- You are an interface between external customers and Hitachi Energy internal bodies (Product Management, Sales, Engineering, R&D). In this role, you support the involved parties with your deep knowledge, especially NMS, packet-switched networks, and associated applications
- You provide technical support (L3) for internal and external customers having SLAs with us. (includes 24/7 support)
- You provide sales support, especially during tendering stage (RFQ), to ensure the proposed solution is commercially optimized and technically valid (e.g. network topology, L2 and L3 design)
- You prepare and execute Proof of Concepts (PoC) when required by customers
- You review requirements defined by PM and R&D to ensure proper network performance and successful execution of projects in mission critical communication
- During project execution, you support internal and external engineering teams with your technical expertise
Your background
- Telecommunication or IT Engineering and a minimum work experience of 3-5 years in Telecommunications or IT
- You hold a CISCO Certified Network Professional certification (CCNP) or equivalent with proven track record in designing, consulting, maintaining and advising IP/MPLS, MPLS-TP, ERPS/RSTP, Carrier Ethernet network technology in architecture, deployment, operation, trouble shooting and monitoring
- Working experience in heterogeneous network environments with interoperation challenges between multiple vendors
- Preferable deep understanding or at least working experience in 3 out of the following 5: SDH/SONET technology, PDH/64K services, DSL, Voice/VOIP and Circuit emulation, Cyber security protection of communication networks, Time and clock synchronization protocols like PTP
- Good understanding on Linux (RedHat); Virtualization; scripting (bash/python), system administration
- Passion for knowledge; ability to further grow and enhance your technical and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with conflicting priorities, take the initiative, and maintain a customer-centric focus
- Ability to work as part of a team, open-minded, collaborative approach
- Passion for problem-solving and investigation
- Good communication skills and the ability to listen to customer issues
- Languages: very good command of English; German and French are an advantage
- Team player with a high customer focus and analytic thinking
