At Hitachi Energy we are investing to establish and develop an Operation Center of Excellence in Madrid, Spain (ESOPC) within Grid & Power Quality Solutions business in Europe (HBUEU). Therefore, we are seeking highly qualified engineers in the fields of Power Electronics, Grid Integration, and Research and Development (R&D) to join us in this exciting opportunity.

In this context, with a pioneering technology-leading offering, Hitachi Energy’s Power Electronics Solutions Team supports the green energy transition with technologies that bring resilience, stability, and increased capacity to the power grid.

Hitachi Energy provides solutions to electrify and power networks and systems, including power electronic systems for power conversion and quality.

As part of the Spanish Operation Centre, you will be part of a team to support the design, manufacturing and delivery of such technologies all over Europe.

How you’ll make an impact

  • As Project Engineer Control, you will be responsible for the planning and engineering of control and protection systems for power converter system projects, including the specification, programming, testing and documentation of control and protection software.

  • You will specify auxiliary components and concepts and define technical requirements and interfaces with sub-suppliers and other engineering functions.

  • We rely on your expertise when it comes to software design for power electronic systems. Experience with control systems MACH or 800xA, as well as tools knowhow HiDraw, Compact Control Builder and Matlab Simulink are a plus.

  • Control system testing and verification in simulation, on real-time simulator as well as on hardware in factory or on site will be part of your job. 

  • You will also perform commissioning and customer training on site as well as service support from remote or on site for the installed fleet.

  • Maintenance of control and protection concepts and software including documentation is part of your responsibilities.

  • You will support the sales department in the concept and tender phase for new opportunities.

Your background

  • You have a Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering or similar. A studies background in Power Electronics or Power Systems is desired.

  • You bring more than 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role.

  • You are willing to travel and work on sites.

  • You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
