Hitachi Energy is seeking a Field Engineer for North America Grid Integration Business Unit based on site in Chibougamau QC. The Grid Integration business is experiencing tremendous growth in EV charging systems, high voltage direct current projects, power consulting, power quality solutions, semiconductors, and many other exciting offerings in North America. The Field Engineer serves as the liaison between the engineering team and the site works team. This role is based at site through the duration of the construction phase.

Your responsibilities

• Technical supporting role based at the project site managing the engineering drawings and documentation at site, including Request For Information, Engineering Change Notices, Red-Lining for As-Builts
• Perform quality inspections or site works and verify work is being installed per design drawings
• Ensure Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) are being executed, recorded and stored according to project requirements
• Inspect major equipment upon arrival at site, ensure correct handling, storage, and installation
• Support in ordering and managing miscellaneous materials at site
• Coordinate with site manager and project manager on schedule, tracking performance of contractor(s) and safety
• Provide technical guidance for installation activities with support from project engineering team
• Recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of processes and/or procedures

Your background

• Bachelor of Science Engineering Civil or Electrical (preferably in Power Systems)
• Fluency in French and English required
• Knowledge of related engineering tools and software (preferably in Revit)
• Knowledge of AutoDesk Construction Cloud preferred
• Ability to read and understand civil and electrical drawings and technical documents
• Good communication, leadership, initiative, critical thinking and analytical skills
