Hitachi Energy is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer - Power Transformers for its North America Transformer Hub. This role consists of coordinating with the product management and business development groups to specify and promote effective applications, equipment, and methods to targeted customer base. It also includes providing consulting services to production operations as well as training and support functions to sales and to the customers. Under limited direction, perform a variety of complex engineering assignments requiring in-depth knowledge of designing, manufacturing, testing and installation of power transformers plus an understanding of related disciplines to cost effectively achieve objectives. This position can be remote (work from home), and will require up to 50% travel to US factory and customer locations.
Your responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and evaluate systems, products, or components, requiring a high degree of technical expertise in power transformers
- Identify and develop new major business opportunity utilizing various resources and experience base
- Participate and play a major role in devising and executing product marketing strategies, master plans and schedules.
- Introduce tactics designed to ensure awareness of market level trends, preferences, and behaviors to influence product development and positioning, to achieve long range business objectives
- Assist product management, business development, engineering, and sales with developing and implementing tactics to capture additional sales, market share, and profits
- Design and develop complex models or simulations and apply advanced computer programs, analytical techniques, or control strategies to effectively meet requirements and resolve problems
- Conduct economic studies and prepare or lead the preparation of specifications, proposals for contracts, licensing, and safety documents, and obtain required approvals
- Represent the group in meetings and conferences; interact with customers to resolve significant technical issues and develop related action plans
Your background
- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering or related field and a minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in the design of power transformers; alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments
- Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States or Canada
- Masters level degree or course work in business or relevant engineering discipline preferred
- Demonstrated experience with power/distribution transformers, their components, and digital solutions
