LAM - Regional Operation Manager

Mission:

Oversee all aspects related to operations of a local unit (s) including the full scope of Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality & Operational Excellence, Value Chain Planning or Project Controls. Ensures strict adherence within the operations to the policies and required standards of health, safety and integrity

Main Accountabilities:

As Operations Manager for the HBU LAM, the employee will be Accountable for PGGI Operations in the region (Latin America including Brazil).

Strategy

Responsible for developing business action plans for the unit(s) aligned with Division/Business Unit/Product Group strategy and targets. Monitors implementation and tracks any deviations for corrective action

Budget

Prepares annual budget, oversees progress, and determines actions to cost issues as necessary in order to manage operations within the budget and resources. Participation on the budgeting process, Sales and Operation planning so that corrective actions taken to optimize project execution capacity.

Project Execution / Operations improvement

Oversee project in the region are in execution in accordance with ABB contractual agreements. Responsible for overall project management, planning, lead engineering, and ensure that portfolio of project is managed consistently, based on best practices, PGGI corresponding guidelines and ABB Policies. Develops programs, projects, goals, and metrics to lead the organization to the highest level of operational performance while optimizing working capital throughout Operations. Ensures that the organization take an overall value chain perspective to meet customer expectations on Health and Safety, quality, service levels and lead time and has a full understanding and culture of continuous improvement behaviors, methodology and processes.  Supervise performance management through timely project reviews with management and ensure that Project Manager and Local Operation Managers are fulling the contact and approve any deviation.

Procedures and Standards

Customize and continuously review, measure and improve the standard process. Leads the Project Managers and Local Operations Managers teams in project execution making sure the procedures and standards are applied. Develop and improve standards processes and ways of working by applying external or internal (regionally) best practices.

Health, safety and environment

Maintains compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations while monitoring and reporting progress and results. Assesses risks and safety hazards and implements plans to ensure people and equipment safety.

Customer & stakeholders relations

Provides support to Sales staff to improve understanding of customer requirements in order to identify both potential constraints and solutions to these requirements from an operational point of view. Maintain strong and healthy relationship with internal and external stakeholders.

People leadership and development

Creates and maintains a positive work environment for the Company. Ensures (with HR Manager support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guides, motivates and develops direct and indirect subordinates within HR policies. Lead and coach the project execution teams to achieve business objective resulting,

 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:

Education: Bachelor or Msc Degree in Engineering, preferable Electrical, Civil or Mechanical. Desirable MBA or further specialization in Project Management.

Language: Portuguese, English and Spanish

Previous experience in Project Management, preferably in energy sector, managing complex projects or local project Business Units

Commercial acumen with a proactive approach to problem solving

Multifunctional experience with project delivery operations

Experience in dealing with tender pursuits, project delivery and supplier management

Experience in leading and motivating a high caliber team of senior experts / functional leaders with a focus on policy, capability and process improvements and resources development.

Experience from complex system / project business incl. both technical and commercial skills.

Extensive experience providing operational and managerial direction for projects, processes and tools, knowledge transfer, organization and people management in power transmission or related segments.
