We are looking for an industrial researcher with background in modelling and simulation of complex physical phenomena. You will solve challenging multi-physics problems to improve the performance and reliability of power grids devices, such as transformers, circuit breakers, power semiconductors, and more. Join our dynamic and inter-disciplinary team to contribute to a power grid that supports the clean energy transition.
Your responsibilities:
- Elaborate and implement new models to improve the understanding of physical phenomena, such as electromagnetic, electro-thermal, mechanical and nonlinear material behavior
- Perform multi-physics simulations, parameter studies, and design optimizations to turn innovative ideas into new features of our power grids devices
- Analyze empirical data to validate simulations and identify model parameters
- Build your network in the company and actively distribute your knowledge and expertise
- Propose, contribute to or lead co-creative research projects together with our Hitachi Energy business units, research centers and universities
- Disseminate your results in technical reports, patent applications, and scientific publications
Your background:
- PhD in physics with strong theoretical background or in applied mathematics
- Practical experience with simulation software, tools or modelling languages, ideally with own software development experience
- Proven track record at top scientific conferences and journal publications
- Curiosity to work on new topics and passion to contribute to the clean energy transition
- Excellent communication skills and team player attitude in an inter-disciplinary research team
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
