Electrical design engineer - Transformer service

The opportunity

Product Design Engineering focuses on designing and developing new or existing products, components, or assemblies including: Applying engineering principles to develop mechanical, electronic, or chemical products that meet customer technical/functional specifications as well as manufacturing cost/efficiency requirements. Conducting mathematical modelling to determine if proposed designs are technically feasible. Supporting and participating in the design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototypes. May also be involved with designing product specific manufacturing production processes and equipment An Experienced Professional (P2) applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. May require the following proficiency: Works independently with general supervision. Problems faced are difficult but typically not complex. May influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices.

How you’ll make an impact

  • The successful candidate will be the part of Transformer Service team specializing in Power Transformers design to support the portfolio like transformer repair, overhauling, capacity enhancement and other service product lines.

  • Shall be responsible for engineering based on tender specifications for pre and post order execution.

  • Assisting with technical aspects of:

  • Design and development of complex engineering projects, translating customer requirements into innovative solutions and specifications, design validation ensuring compliance with relevant safety and industry standards

  • Providing technical support & solutions based on Customer and project requirements.

  • Technical inputs, reverse engineering required for successful repair of transformers.

  • Technical support (inputs, drawings, specs., etc.) for successful retrofit, upgradation and refurbishment of Transformers.

  • Design and implement upgrades and retrofits (suitable replacements) to improve transformer performance and efficiency

  • Preparation of Data sheets, Cost sheets as per customer specification

  • Influence specification at the tender and pre-tender stage, through conceptual discussions

  • Implement digital solutions to enhance the monitoring and management of transformer operations, leveraging technologies

  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

  • Bachelor’s degree of Electrical Engineering.

  • 5- 7 years’ experience working in Electrical design for Power Transformers (66kV & above).

  • Further experience in other products such as Reactors, Special transformers, Dry & Traction transformers would be advantageous.

  • Experience in Simulation or software development would be advantageous.

  • Experience on Microsoft office and tools.

  • Demonstrated team building and networking skills, would be a preference.

  • Good verbal and written English is a Must

  • A team player, open with information and willingly contributes to team discussions with an ability to work without supervision when required.

  • Quick learner with ability to master new areas
