General information:

HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) and HVDC Light(R) are highly efficient alternatives for transmitting bulk power and for special purpose applications. The classic HVDC technology is used to transmit electric power over long distances by overhead transmission lines or submarine cables. It is also used to interconnect separate power systems, where traditional alternating current (AC) connections cannot be used. HVDC Light(R) is an underground and submarine cable power transmission technology developed by Hitachi Energy that offers additional benefits compared to HVDC Classic. INOPC-HVDC is the operation center for Global HVDC, located in Chennai. This center operating since Sep 2007 and has grown in engineering skills and competence as fully integrated part of Global HVDC. As a Team Manager at INOPC-HVDC Valve Mechanical, you will be responsible for HVDC Valve Mechanical Design Team in INOPC Chennai.

Responsibilities:

Lead the teams and ensure delivery of a portfolio of projects on time. Provide direction to the teams with technology, focus on safety, on-time delivery, quality, and margin improvement. Secure that your teams are engaged in the sales process in feeds and tenders and that the interfaces to the tender team, customer, and partners are well working. Review and challenge cost estimates. Ensure that project and engineering teams are adequately resourced, developed, and equipped to meet needs. Oversee planning and control process in the project and engineering teams. Conduct regular reviews to ensure that the teams are delivering work according to the customer and Hitachi requirements. Create and implement plans to ensure that business risks are identified and managed, and opportunities maximized. Collaborate with the Supply Chain function (SCM) to ensure that correct suppliers' services are available and correctly contractually sources to support the engineering execution. Initiate and drive continuous improvement activities. Develop, implement, and improve relevant documented processes, policies, and procedures to improve effectiveness across the engineering function and the external interfaces. Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guides, motivates, coaches, and develops employee reporting directly and indirectly. Create financial plans and budget estimates for units and projects. Sign off on tender costs. Oversee adherence to these plans and estimates. You will also need to collaborate with various cross-functional teams and customers. You will work at the global market with possibility to many exciting travels to look forward to. You will be part of local management and act as a "sounding board" within the organization. Analysis and risk management will also be among your tasks. You will in many ways be the person at the center of things. Together with the tender responsible you will also handle tender calculations and pricing models.

Your background:

B.E or M.E/M.Tech in relevant Engineering. Should have 10 years or more including more than 2 years of management experience leading technical teams. Must have solid technical background in mechanical design. Goal-oriented and with a leadership style that allows your teams to perform independently. Good communicator and strong in building internal and external relationships.
