Hitachi Energy’s advanced semiconductor technology is a key component in its grid integration solutions that enable vast amounts of renewable energy to flow reliably through power grids and between nations. They are also key to the traction converter systems that drive high-speed electric trains and metros, and the electric vehicles that are making road transportation clean and sustainable.

In the role of the HSE Manager you will be responsible to govern, foster and support the continuous implementation and improvement of the health, safety and environment culture and processes at our power semiconductor plant at Lenzburg / Switzerland and will lead the team of our HSE specialists. Your work in this high-tech manufacturing and facilities environment will be both challenging and rewarding. You will be part of a worldwide HSE community at Hitachi Energy that applies advanced methods to manage HSE as the topic at the top of the daily agenda.

Your responsibilities

  • Drive and ensure regulatory compliance, implement and govern policies, standards and regulations. Guide line organization in understanding how to fulfil their roles referring to HSE related duties
  • Lead, motivate and develop the local HSE team as direct subordinates and the assisting HSE functions in manufacturing and support
  • Ensure compliance of the management system to the respective HSE standards (ISO14001, ISO45001, ...) and internal Hitachi Energy regulations,  prepare and coordinate the regular Management Reviews, follow-up on yearly targets and defined improvement actions 
  • Drive change processes through implementing Hitachi Energy-wide performance improvement programs, practices and trainings at Semiconductors to ensure a leading HSE culture in the organization
  • Ensure HSE risk assessment methodology is applied and risk mitigations are implemented in the organization
  • Reporting and investigation of HSE incidents, feedback on lessons learned and improvement actions
  • Engage and support the internal community for environmental related topics, share your passion for sustainability and help implement sustainability-related projects to achieve our Hitachi Sustainability Goals 2030
  • Report on HSE performance and progress on implementation of Sustainability objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) locally and to Hitachi Energy

Your background

  • Bachelor or Masters degree with a focus on occupational health and safety or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in HSE management preferably in an industrial environment
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 and 14001 management systems and their implementation, additional standards e.g. ISO 50001 are a plus
  • Additional qualification as specialist for occupational safety and health according to Swiss country-specific regulations (EKAS, SUVA) are a plus
  • Combine both excellent strategical skills and strong pragmatic, hands-on operational expertise
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels and assertiveness, first experience in team leadership is a plus
  • Ability to work in both a local and international environment
  • Business fluent English, ability and willingness to learn German in a shorter period of time
  • Knowledge of environmental, health and safety laws and regulations
  • Applications from international candidates are welcome. For them, we offer the possibility to familiarize themselves with the relevant official and legal HSE requirements and regulations in Switzerland as training on the job and acquire the professional certificates required in Switzerland as further external training.
