As Global Environmental Operations Lead you will provide operational direction and support to contribute to environmental performance, including energy management, waste, water, hazardous substance reduction, and pollution prevention measures in Hitachi Energy
Responsibilities:
Support the Sustainability function to advance the environmental performance of our Company. Provide operational guidance and support to facilities on energy management to meet the carbon neutrality objectives in close collaboration with the Carbon Neutrality Expert. Provide operational guidance and support to identify and shape operational waste and water initiatives, with the support of the Sustainability function. Provides operational guidance for hazardous substance identification, reduction, and substitution across four business units including but not limited to manufacturing, engineering, and office activities. Serve as a global subject matter expert for operational chemical management tasks and activities including chemical risk evaluations. Provides operational guidance for pollution prevention measures. Risk evaluation of processes involving chemical usage, determining risk severity and making recommendations for risk mitigation. Provides operational guidance for pollution prevention measures. Develops and maintain waste, water, hazardous substance and pollution prevention management system standards and programs in accordance with ISO14001 / 50001. Support local units in existing waste, water, pollution prevention and chemical management programs. Support incident definition, categorization, and investigation for environmental sustainability areas of expertise. Drive the environmental reporting and maintain the questionnaires up to date in the global system to ensure proper reporting. Consolidate and assess environmental data for trend evaluation and KPI establishment and / or refinement and work closely with the Sustainability function. Communicate and promote environmental performance in the operations for the Company.
Your background:
Minimum 7+ years of experience in environmental sustainability in a global company. Strong working knowledge regarding regulations, principles, practices, procedures, etc. pertaining to energy, waste, water and chemical management / pollution prevention in industry. Demonstrated success in strategic planning and execution regarding environmental initiatives. Formal education or experience in environment, and operational chemical management at a regional or global level. Excellent communication skills to work in a complex organization. Maintains organizational and delegation skills for dissemination of relevant information. Skills in identifying environmental exposures and developing processes to limit such exposure. Ability to train others in risk mitigation strategies and communication. Can prepare clear, accurate and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with many stakeholders. Professional certification or fellowship in environmental sustainability is a plus.
