Production unit in the heart of Sevlievo evolved to Hitachi Energy and contributing to the global energy transition
Formerly known as Hitachi ABB Power Grids, the global technology and market leader in power grids is evolving to Hitachi Energy, committed to advancing a sustainable energy future for all. Hitachi Energy champions the urgency of a clean energy transition through innovation and collaboration and continues to build on its heritage. The new company is committed to advancing a sustainable energy future for all.
Hitachi Energy is operating in Bulgaria with a high-voltage production unit in Sevlievo and two locations in Sofia – A Research & Development facility and office in the heart of the capital. The company employs around 650 people in Bulgaria and manages major solar parks across the country.
The factory in Sevlievo was established in 1962 with a production area of around 15,000 sqm and became part of Hitachi Energy (erstwhile ABB) in 1996. In 2019 the company completed a major investment program to modernize the high-voltage factory, focusing on the production of Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) and Generator-circuit Breakers (GCB) modules, Instrument Transformer Disconnectors, Local Control Cubicles (LCC), Metal Enclosed Capacitor Banks (MECB) and more.
Exciting anniversary for the local production
The high-voltage production unit Sevlievo is marking an exciting 10th anniversary of its production line for Local Control Cubicles (LCC) in Sevlievo. The anniversary matches the production of the 1000th LCC for the year, reaching a total number of nearly 6000 cubicles manufactured since the beginning.
The LCC is an important component usually installed near the Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substation, providing exceptional control and protection. The production of the LCCs is project-based, and each product is customized according to the specification of our customers.
“I’m excited about this milestone and can’t be happier that we have such an amazing team of professionals capable of delivering a world-class product with a superior quality”, said Andrea Brognara, the newly assigned Executive Manager of Hitachi Energy’s production unit in Sevlievo. He added, ”I’m joining the Sevlievo team in such an important moment, to celebrate a decade of superior LCC production and also to welcome our employees in the newly formed company Hitachi Energy. It is an exciting time to join our company and support us on our journey!”.
Hitachi Energy’s production unit in Bulgaria is continuously developing its footprint and investing in its talents. The company presents a unique opportunity to people across Bulgaria to join a world leader with the ambition to be at the forefront of the energy transition.
