Product Classification Engineer

The opportunity

As Product Classification Engineer (PCE) you will be an important player supporting the business with product classification within the trade compliance area. This includes the classification of physical goods in line with the Swedish Customs Tariff and the classification of products, software, and technology in line with Swedish export control regulation of dual-use items as well as the US Export Administration Regulation. The PCE is the point of contact for our customs brokers when information about correct HS codes is needed.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Perform sanity checks or execute product classification, including proper documentation, according to Tulltaxan (Swedish customs classification).
  • Support the business with sanctions applicability analysis of the product portfolio in case of certain sanctions packages.
  • Regularly upload export control classification data into SAP GTS Compliance.
  • Review classified items in case of any updates of Tulltaxan, the Swedish export control regulation, or US Export Administration Regulation.
  • Be part of the Hitachi local and global trade compliance community.

Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Technical knowledge of the Hitachi Energy product portfolio is a plus.
  • Ability to manage assignments with limited direct supervision.
  • Strong sense of ownership, attention to detail, and self-driven personality.
  • Team player with good communication skills, capable communicating fluently in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Good knowledge of sanctions and export control laws and regulations is a merit.
