Manjit S Sethi

Senior Vice President, Transformers- ABB Power Products and Systems India Limited

Manjit Singh Sethi is Senior Vice President of Hitachi Energy’s Transformers business line. He started his career with the technology giant about 28 years ago and has been instrumental in expanding the company’s footprint in the region through several milestone projects.

An authority in the energy domain, Manjit has held several leadership roles in sales across business lines at Hitachi Energy prior to his current role, Business Line Manager for Transformers in India, where, he has successfully expanded the business across product lines, increasing sales and creating business value for customers, keeping intact the company’s core values of quality and integrity.

Manjit has had many firsts to his credit including spearheading the first 800 kilovolt (kV) high-voltage direct current unit for the NEA project for Hitachi Energy Corporation of India and getting India’s first 765 KV transformer short circuit tested at KEMA in the Netherlands.

An active member of various professional bodies such as IEEMA where he has been Chairman of the Transformers division for about three years, Manjit has also led events such as TRAFOTECH to discuss the reliability, safety and efficiency of power transformers on an international level.

Manjit started his career as a management trainee at Bhartiya Cutler Hammer, Faridabad in 1990, and is a certified marketing professional from Indira Gandhi

National Open University. He has a master’s in technology from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and a bachelor’s in engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. A gregarious person, Manjit enjoys listening to music in his free time.
