Rupinder Singh

Senior Vice President, High Voltage Products - Hitachi Energy India Limited

Rupinder Singh is Senior Vice President, High Voltage Products, South Asia. He started his career with the technology pioneer 26 years ago and has been instrumental in advancing Hitachi Energy’s footprint in the India market.

He joined ABB as a management trainee in 1993 and went on to don many hats, assuming the rank of Regional Manager, North India, in 2006, and Local Business Unit Manager, with additional charge of Local Product Group Breakers and Modules, in 2013. In this period, he set up ABB’s Interrupters factory at Maneja, Vadodara, in record time; successfully delivered the indigenous R&D project Avatar; gave the company the highest domestic market share for up to 245 kilovolt ratings of breakers and turned around the instrument transformers business.

Under Rupinder’s leadership, Business Unit High Voltage has seen profitable growth for the last six years and increased market share in the capacitors and filters business in the low and medium-voltage segment. He has also been the man behind the growth in the Business Unit High Voltage’s exports business.

Known for his multi-tasking and operations management skills, Rupinder has gained extensive experience in the HV power sector and won various accolades such the Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Contribution and Award for the Best Marketing Branch.

Rupinder graduated in electrical engineering from Punjab University, Chandigarh, and has a master’s in power systems from the same place. He has attended the Senior Leadership Development Program from the International Institute for Management Development, Lausanne, Switzerland, and is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, certified from the International Association for Continuing education & Training.

A believer in meditation and travel for relaxation, he enjoys reading in his free time.
