Control Engineer - Power Converters 80-100% (f/m/d)

Within our competence center ‘Power Converter Solutions’, we have a leading position in the development, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of high-power electronic converters mainly for STATCOMs, Rail Power Supply Converters as well as for static frequency converters for industrial applications. We also provide power converters for hydro pump storage stations. With our highly efficient converters we contribute to the integration of renewable energies into the electrical grid of tomorrow and at the same time improve the overall system efficiency.

To strengthen our control engineering team, we are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated Engineer with interest in power electronics and control technology.

Responsibilities

  • Planning of control and protection systems for power electronic converter projects including support of the sales department in the concept and tender phase

  • Specifications for the programming and documentation of the control software as well as the specification for the fabrication and test documentation of the hardware

  • Selection of auxiliary components and define technical requirements and interfaces with sub suppliers

  • Software design with Matlab/Simulink. Additionally support with 800xA Compact Control Builder and/or Codesys for sequence control

  • Verification of software on the real-time simulator as well as on site installations

  • Bringing the software into service and operate as a support specialist for the service group as well as for the customer.

  • Performing commissioning and customer training on site

  • Collaboration across projects and teams

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering (university / technical college, Bachelor or Master) with sound experience in process control and software design with Matlab/ Simulink (additional knowledge of 800xA Control Builder or another structured text language is an asset)

  • Comprehensive knowledge in the field of power electronics and control (Static Frequency Converters)

  • You are fluent in English, fluency in German is a strong asset.

  • Enjoy global traveling and commissioning of 15% of the working time

  • Responsible team player with strong communication skills

  • Fast learner for new applications and procedures

  • Experience of working in multicultural / international environment
