Sudden and violent short circuits inside the oil-cooled transformer’s metal tanks instantly generate an enormous amount of gas, which causes a substantial increase in internal pressure. If the pressure cannot be externally discharged, there is a danger that the transformer could explode and potentially cause harm and damage.
