We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our Energy Transformer division as a Test Engineering Manager and contribute to our quality operations as we continue to produce our world-class transformer systems. This role is based out of our Reynosa Mexico facility.
Basic Function: Test Engineering encompasses the development and implementation of appropriate tests to ensure compliance with contract test specifications and generally accepted standards and to provide support for research efforts while ensuring protection of the test environment, including physical facility and staff.
Supervise a group or groups performing a variety of engineering support functions. Direct the efficient utilization of staff and resources in order to cost-effectively meet commitments while ensuring customer satisfaction. Oversee progress and implement corrective actions to achieve objectives. Perform various administrative functions to assist senior manager in overall operations of the department.
Typical duties/responsibilities for engineering may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Plan and establish work schedules considering customer requirements, priorities and availability of resources. Assign work consistent with skills of staff in order to cost-effectively achieve objectives, ensure quality and customer satisfaction.
Monitor progress of work and ensure compliance with quality, schedule and cost commitments. Investigate complex problems and independently initiate effective measures for their solution. Coordinate activities with related groups and, as warranted, modify schedules to most efficiently achieve objectives while ensuring customer satisfaction. Assist less experienced supervisors with the more complex aspects of their assignments.
Maintain awareness of new design developments and technologies and make recommendations regarding feasibility of utilizing alternative approaches, modifying or replacing equipment to reduce costs or improve quality. As assigned, devise and implement new approaches to recurring problems. Prepare or assist in preparing budgets and ensure adherence to approved budget plans.
Provide guidance and training to staff to continually upgrade their skills and improve performance. In conjunction with human resources representatives, resolve human resources problems and ensure fair and equitable treatment of staff. Manage and document employee performance and develop associated recommendations.
Complexity of Tasks: Requires in-depth knowledge of various engineering support functions and ability to respond to changing priorities. Requires strong technical and communication skills to supervise a group(s), interface effectively with other staff and customers and influence decisions. Failure to properly manage operations may result in development delays and damage the organization's reputation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering plus 5 to 8 years of experience.
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) would be preferred
Experience with design, manufacturing, or installation/ service of distribution class transformers
(a plus)
Knowledge lean manufacturing and project management is preferred
