At Hitachi Energy, we are investing to establish and develop an Operation Center of Excellence in Madrid, Spain (ESOPC). Therefore, we are seeking highly qualified engineers in the fields of Power Electronics, Grid Integration, and Research and Development (R&D) to join us in this exciting opportunity.

In this context, with a pioneering technology-leading offering, Hitachi Energy’s Power Electronics Solutions Team supports the green energy transition with technologies that bring resilience, stability, and increased capacity to the power grid.

Hitachi Energy provides solutions to electrify and power networks and systems, including power electronic systems for power conversion and quality.

As part of the Spanish Operation Centre, you will be part of a team to support the design, manufacturing and delivery of such technologies all over Europe.

How you'll make an impact

  • Undertaking various simulation studies individually or as part of a team on daily basis.

  • Making reports out of studies and presenting to customers.

  • Understanding customer needs by reading customer specifications and participating in customer meetings.

  • Coordination and communication with all disciplines involved in project and tender deliveries as well as in close connection to research and development activities.

  • Having ambition in learning and sharing critical knowledge in today’s power system.

  • You will be in frequent contact with the other engineering disciplines, project managers, customers and other Hitachi Energy units in an international environment.

  • You will work independently as well as in a team and to assume responsibility for given tasks is a key to success.

Your Background

  • You hold an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or similar.

  • You are experienced within power systems analysis and have at least five years of job experience in this field.

  • It is preferred that you have knowledge in several of the programs and tools we are using: RTDS, PSCAD, PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, Matlab, EMTP-RV, etc.

  • It is considered as a merit if you have experience in preparing automated scripts, e.g. in Python and MATLAB, for running simulations in various studies.

  • Experience in FACTS, HVDC or wind farm modeling, programming in FORTRAN and DSL, and working on tenders, including cost estimation and coordination with sales, is highly valued.

  • Fluent in English. Any additional languages will be appreciated.

Willingness to travel: Required up to 10%. Type of trips: RTDS Studies and STATCOM Control FAT with the customer
