HUB TT&L Heavy Lift Transport Specialist

Mission statement: 

As a Heavy Lift Execution Specialist, you are responsible for coordination of Heavy Lift transportation for our four factories and service units located in APMEA region (Asia, Pacific Middle East, Africa, Turkey & India) in accordance to agreed budget end report any deviations and reasons for those. You will manage the transportation and logistics planning and execution and support the H/L Sourcing Specialist on Transport Project Budgeting and firm RFQ’s. Your focus is set in the heavy lift operations from planning to final invoice codification/approval, including the dispute management related to transportation cost. In collaboration with different stakeholders (within and outside of Hitachi Energy organization), you will manage the issue management for heavy lift transportation for all the case categories, ensuring proper documentation and follow up on the agreed actions. The Heavy Lift Execution Specialist is also responsible for the end-to-end claim management, ensuring the registration of the non-conformity report, COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) calculation and following up on claim status and resolution.

Your responsibilities:

  • You will manage the transportation, logistics planning and execution and cover everything from the booking of the transportation to the final delivery at site, demonstrate strong understanding of project management, the specific of transporting heavy and "out-of-gauge" equipment in multimodal complex transportation and international logistics.

  • You will be accountable for project risk management and that the projects are successful delivered in time, on budget and with the sufficient quality, must secure safe operation for heavy lift transportation, ensure safety of the teams and the equipment's by respecting health and safety regulations, in coordination with health and safety function and insurance company.

  • You will place orders for transportation and collect order acknowledgements, track shipments from dispatch to delivery at site, keep regular communication with freight forwarders, transportation companies, and the internal operation teams, coordinate trade activities for heavy lift projects, including tracking and communication to all in-ternal and external stakeholders involved.

  • You will work closely with other factory function to generate projects and bring value on quality, cash, lead time, material availability and costs, when necessary, travel to the site or loading site to supervise loading/unloading activities and/or road surveys with suppliers, ensure all transports are executed with approved suppliers.

  • You will ensure that forwarders, factories and service units are working in accordance with the Hitachi Energy standards, processes, roles and responsibilities, support the Heavy Lift Sourcing team on the project execution plan and delegated tasks during firm RfQ´s.

  • You will be supporting Heavy Lift Sourcing on domestic Transport Project Budgeting and firm RFQ’s, reviewing all heavy lift projects to ensure a clear and accurate transport project budget, ensuring that all costs will be aligned with the tariffs and agreements with forwarders.

  • You will propose and support implementation of cost savings initiatives and risk mitigation projects, provide feedback after execution of each project to sourcing team to monitor transport supplier performance, forecast of spend of heavy lift transportation and perform analysis of main cost slippages in the transportation projects to implement lesson learnt for future projects.

  • You will evaluate of the issue cases related to the Non-Conformity Report (NCR) process and proper management, depending on the case category (equipment issue, product damage, location change, custom and documentation, date change), address and escalate appropriately project activities that are not compliant with processes and procedures, and/or are not meeting budget, document claim to LSP (NCR), claim to customer/claim from customer (NCR).

  • You will act as first level escalation for forwarder issue resolution including claim management, establish and maintain productive relationships with Service providers / forwarders.

  • You will work on End-to-end Claim Management Process (to LSP, to customer, from customer) including the case evaluation, impact on cost and/or timeline, follow up with different stakeholders to gather full set of documentation, claim registration, calculation of the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).

Your background:

  • You hold bachelor’s degree.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the field of project logistics, project management of heavy lift transportations.

  • Experience in power transformer business is a plus.

  • Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple time-sensitive tasks in a dynamic environment. Hands-on, hard working with good understanding of manufacturing operations.

  • Familiarity with heavy lift transportation cost structures, terms, and conditions within the transport industry (such as Incoterms(R), surcharges, weight and volume conversion factors etc.)

  • Knowledge of international supply chain and logistics.

  • Diplomatic communicator who can establish good relationships between forwarders and internal stakeholders.

  • Team player, results-oriented with the ability to learn quickly.

  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely manner with a sense of urgency.

  • Customer oriented approach and ready to engage with users.

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
