Hitachi Energy Vadodara transformers bushing factory recognized for unwavering commitment to the “Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan”

A year after opening, on Nov. 9, 2023, Hitachi Energy’s dry bushing factory in Vadodara received the prestigious Recognition Award for its RIP bushings from Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).

No less than India's Minister of Heavy Industries, Shri Mahendra Pandey, honored the Hitachi Energy team for its outstanding commitment to quality and innovation.

The awarding ceremony took place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, a symbolic venue recently hosting the G20 Summit, as part of the annual Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) event. BHEL is the largest transformer manufacturer and a pivotal partner for Hitachi Energy's Insulation and Component Business (I&C).

With recent triumphs in securing major 400 kV and 80 0kV transformer and reactor orders, Hitachi Energy's Vadodara factory anticipates regular insulation and component inquiries from BHEL.

The award recognizes Hitachi Energy's commitment to the "Make in India" initiative of the Government of India. Hitachi Energy stood out in the Bushing category, acknowledging the advanced dry bushing factory in Vadodara. The factory's capability to deliver RIP Bushings in just five weeks, a remarkable improvement from the previous 20-24 weeks lead time, was a crucial factor in the selection process.

In addition, the award also aligns perfectly with the “Make in India” (“Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan”) initiative promoted by the Indian government, as the Hitachi Energy award-winning factory not only supports the local production in India but is also a proud contributor toward a sustainable future for the country by producing dry bushings that eliminate the use of mineral oil.

It is a great honor for Hitachi Energy to be recognized by BHEL. BHEL is not only the first company in India to order from the factory that only opened in October 2022 but also to show continuous trust and appreciation for Hitachi Energy’s quality and commitment to finding the best solutions for its needs.

In a strategic move, Hitachi Energy has customized the AirRIP Flex RIP bushing family to meet Indian specifications, further enhancing its design for the local market. This customization showcased the company's adaptability and significantly reduced the production of RIP Bushings.

“Hitachi Energy is happy and proud of the decision to invest in the local RIP Bushing plant in India, which is already yielding remarkable results. This award is not just a recognition; it's a celebration of a year of excellence, a testament to the exceptional team effort, product quality, world-class infrastructure, and the collaborative spirit that defines us,” says Atul Pandit, Hitachi Energy in India Operations Manager, Transformers.

As the sun sets on the ceremony in New Delhi, it rises on a new era of possibilities for Hitachi Energy and its valued partners.
