Supply Quality Engineer

The opportunity:

We are the Global Center of Competence (GCoC) for Power Conversion within the Global Product Group (GPG) Grid & Power Quality Solutions (GPQS) in the Business Unit Grid Integration, Hitachi Energy. Our production site is located in  Turgi, Switzerland and we have a leading position in the development, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and service of high-power electronic converters mainly for STATCOM and rail power supply converters as well as for static frequency converters for industrial applications. In our Supply Chain Management (SCM) function we work as one team, fully integrated within the value chain. To support our strategy, competitiveness and growth we are extending our team and are looking for a Supply quality engineer. How you will make an impact:

  • Technological and methodical further development of suppliers for electric and mechanical components and assemblies with regard to process and product quality.
  • Support new supplier onboarding by ensuring a robust qualification process execution, both at company and product level.
  • Work with Eng department to identify the product CTQs and to assess the manufacturing process capabilities of the supplier Planning, Execution and Follow up.
  • Process Audits at main Suppliers Lead Supplier Quality Reviews to drive Continuous Improvement..
  • Own supplier results as measured by key metrics and identify area for improvements utilizing Supplier scorecards
  • Manage supplier Nonconformities (containment action, corrective actions and Root Cause Analysis) and analyze periodically historical NC to drive improvement plan Support Supplier claim management process.
  • The role requires travelling to suppliers for solving quality issues, quality process developments and inspection of components and products.

Your background:

  • Preferred technical degree (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering). Education in Quality Management.
  • 2 years of experience in Supplier Quality Green Belt certification.
  • Experience in product qualification process (PPAP or similar), quality audit execution (certified quality auditor would be a plus) and in quality management methods, tools and measurements systems, including DFMEA and PFMEA.
  • Good knowledge or experience in manufacturing processes assessment.
  • Fluency in English – capability to lead technical conference calls, read drawings and procedures in English.
  • Solid communication skills for cross functional and global team environments.
