Technical Specialist - Secondary Protection & Control

The opportunity:

How you'll make an impact:

  • You will have secondary engineering solution mainly on EMU projects, secondary protection related enquiry and other solution providing for tendering and bidding, study and consultation services to meet up vendors and understanding customer requirements and preparing proposal for solution, working closely with sales and tendering team during project bidding and proposal, identifying the opportunities of digitalization by collecting and analyzing requirements from functions and transform them into digital project base on technology feasibility study and investment vs. benefit analysis.

  • You will design the technical solutions based on industry best practices, ensure a high level of base solutions and re-use between projects is achieved, support integration of 3rd party devices into Digital Aggregators, this include analysis of industrial communications, performing mapping of available data registers, setup and evaluation of 3rd party device into PG architecture, leverage common/scalable solutions across the Service Business unit where possible and feasible. Help improve operations by conducting systems reviews and recommending changes in policies or procedures.

  • You will work with subsystem teams, domain subject matter experts, and suppliers in the assessment, selection, integration, and qualification of key components, escalate issues to the appropriate project or product management as needed. Minimize exposure and risks on projects and implement risk mitigation when required, expand market share by delivering innovative, reliable power and digital solutions, strengthen client relationships through consultative selling and technical expertise.

  • You will provide feedback to product and engineering teams for continuous improvement, contribute to a high-performance sales culture through knowledge sharing and leadership, design tailored solutions including GIS, hybrid switchgear, and SCADA integration, develop and present technical proposals with cost and timeline estimate, deliver persuasive presentations to communicate solution value, guide and oversee development teams in creating sustainable, secure, and scalable systems, integrating software and hardware components in a cohesive and efficient manner, while providing technical guidance and mentorship.

  • You will prepare and maintain high-quality technical designs and documentation, and define setups for operations/engineering, maintenance, and support, continuously improving them, stay updated with industry trends and implement new tools and methodologies to enhance system performance, security, and reliability, securing technical leadership with a long-term perspective by engaging Hitachi Energy's internal and external network, collaborate with project managers, product managers, line managers to define project scopes, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

  • You will present and explain complex technical concepts to clients, stakeholders, and non-technical team members, good Knowledge on Debugging / Troubleshooting issues in digital devices | Numerical Relays | SCADA | RTU Etc, good Knowledge on Digital Integration from process to System level (Leveraging all electrical Communication Protocol), knowledge on Digital Device configuration and communication. Knowledge Installation & commissioning of Digital Device | Numerical Relays | SCADA | DCS | RTU | PLC's, ownership of the design, implementation, and verification of the interface between different systems, collaboration skills working in overall tender and project teams and together with our customers and partners.

  • You will design the technical solutions based on industry best practices ensuring a high quality and reusability is achieved, provide training and share knowledge within the organization, foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by encouraging knowledge sharing, conducting regular code reviews, organizing technical workshops, and implementing feedback mechanisms to ensure high quality deliverables while developing team members' technical capabilities.

  • You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field,

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.

  • Knowledge on the SCADA | RTU | Protection Relay, Substation Automation communication protocols (IEC 61850,101,104 | Modbus TCP & RTU | PRP | HSR | RSTP | GOOSE | DNP3), operating System Windows | Windows Server | Linux, Hitachi Energy Engineering process and tools, base design, engineering, FAT and commissioning activities in previous roles.

  • Outstanding communication skills for effective collaboration with business stakeholders, product owners, developers, and end users across diverse regions and cultures, ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously, proven track record in software architecture and systems engineering, with experience designing and implementing complex technical solutions at scale.

  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, protocols, and implementation strategies for enterprise systems, demonstrated ability to balance technical excellence with business requirements and resource constraints, familiarity with Hitachi Energy's technology stack or similar industrial/energy sector technologies and systems, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities and proficient in prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines, with strong self-management skills.

  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language.
