Manufacturing Production Process Engineering Senior Professional

The opportunity

Hitachi Energy Transformer Business Unit in Greater China operates across 55 cities, employs over 1,900 staff, and manages 5 transformer manufacturing plants. More than 90% of its sales come from locally manufactured products. We offer a comprehensive portfolio of Transformers Products, Solutions and Services.  Transformers are essential in all electricity-related fields and applications, including power generation, transmission and distribution, oil, chemical and gas, industrial manufacturing, semiconductor and data centers, as well as building and transportation sectors.

How you’ll make an impact

You will be responsible for the following:
1.You will develop comprehensive process flow diagrams (PFDs) and process documentation for the new factory.
2.You will define and submit detailed process requirements to the Design Institute, including production capacity, workflow, material handling, and logistics.
3.You will review and approve design institute deliverables, such as factory layout drawings, utility requirements (power, compressed air, vacuum, oil systems), and building specifications to ensure they meet manufacturing needs.
4.You will collaborate closely with GPG to understand global standards, best practices, and technical specifications.
5.You will ensure that local process designs and equipment selections are fully compliant with GPG requirements and corporate quality standards.
6.You will define technical requirements and specifications for manufacturing equipment (e.g., core cutting lines, winding machines, vacuum drying ovens, oil treatment plants, testing systems)
7.You will participate in supplier technical meetings, evaluate proposals, and support the procurement team in vendor selection.
8.You will review and approve equipment technical drawings, manuals, and control logic (PLC/HMI) during the design phase.
9.You will oversee the installation, debugging, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment on-site.
10.You will lead the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) processes to ensure equipment meets all technical and performance criteria.
11.You will manage the handover of equipment from the project phase to the production operations team.
12.You will work closely with HSE, Quality, and Production teams to ensure the new facility is safe, compliant, and ready for mass production.
13.You will provide input on manpower planning and training requirements based on the new process flow.

14. You will be responsible for ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.

2. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in transformer manufacturing process engineering.

3.Crucial: Proven experience in new factory setup, greenfield projects, or large-scale plant expansion within the transformer or heavy electrical industry.

4.Experience in writing technical specifications for industrial machinery and managing equipment acceptance.

5.Technical Skills:

6.In-depth knowledge of transformer manufacturing processes (Core, Winding, Assembly, Drying, Oil Filling, Testing).

7.Proficiency in reading and creating technical drawings, PFDs, and layout plans.

8.Familiarity with industrial utility systems (HVAC, Compressed Air, Vacuum, Oil Purification).

9.Knowledge of international transformer standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI) and quality systems (ISO 9001).

10.Strong project management and organizational skills.

11.Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with external design institutes, suppliers, and internal GPG stakeholders.

12.Fluent in English (written and spoken) is mandatory; knowledge of [Local Language] is a plus.

13.This role involves a mix of office work and extensive site presence during the construction and installation phases.

14.Willingness to travel to equipment suppliers for FAT and to other company sites for GPG alignment meetings.
