With a strong commitment to improving learning conditions for students in border areas, Hitachi Energy Vietnam has partnered with the Border Guard Command of Tuyen Quang Province and local authorities to begin construction of new classrooms at Son Vi Semi-Boarding Primary School for Ethnic Minorities, located in Tuyen Quang Province.
The project includes six solidly built classrooms covering an area of 150 square meters, with classroom equipment that meet the national standard. These are the very first classrooms in this region to reach that high quality.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was joined by Hitachi Energy leaders, representatives from the local authority, border guard station and school.
Funding was mobilized through contributions from the company’s two factories in Bac Ninh, as well as meaningful internal fundraising activities. During the Spring Fair 2025, employees actively participated in fundraising by selling handmade products, food, and decorations. Additionally, a charity run held in March 2025 attracted 149 employees and contractors, who collectively ran over 11,000 kilometers. For every kilometer recorded, the company pledged to donate VND 50,000, with all proceeds directed to the “Classrooms for Children” program supporting school construction in the highland border area.
This initiative is part of the company’s broader corporate social responsibility efforts, aimed at enhancing education quality and providing better learning environments for ethnic minority students in remote regions. Voicing this shared inspiration on behalf of all employees, Chandan Singh, Country Managing Director of Hitachi Energy Vietnam, expressed: “Hopefully this will enrich the lives of the students here, and perhaps they can contribute more to society in this challenging terrain.”
The school has been built in 2020 and the facility has degraded.
Children have to share the bulk beds.
In this spirit, geographic distance and difficulties are not seen as barriers, but as a reason to invest even more in future generations. This approach aligns with the company’s commitment to achieving sustainable development in a comprehensive way, particularly by strengthening social welfare in the communities where it operates. As Phuong Nguyen Viet, Transformers Factory Operations Director, emphasized, “For a sustainable development in 10 years, we need to grow trees. For a sustainable development in hundreds of years, we need to grow people.”

The journey to Son Vi became even more meaningful with the strong support and encouragement from the local authority and border guard officers, which further strengthened the delegation’s determination. More importantly, this effort represents the shared commitment of over 900 Hitachi Energy employees, all of whom are eager to contribute to the country, especially to border regions that face significant challenges daily. Fundraising activities such as the Spring Fair and charity run not only promote health and well-being but also serve as a way for the company to come together in supporting community projects.
On the school’s side, Ha Nguyen Viet, Principal of Son Vi Semi-boarding Primary School, stated that with a total of 50 classes and over 1,380 students, the school is facing significant challenges in terms of infrastructure. The construction of additional classrooms will help ease the pressure on existing facilities and create more favorable conditions for teaching and learning.

The classrooms were inaugurated on March 20, 2026, with the participation of over 900 students, teachers and Hitachi Energy employees. More than a completed construction project, this initiative marks a shared conviction that education will open pathways to meaningful opportunities. For many children here, a school meal may be the only proper meal they have in a day. Yet through education, they can gradually build independent lives and provide for themselves and others, beginning with the most fundamental needs to more significant fulfilment. Hitachi Energy Vietnam affirms its commitment to shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future for generations to come.
