R&D Team Manager – Network Manager

The opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative R&D Team Manager – Network Manager to join Hitachi Energy. In this role, you will lead and develop a team of skilled engineers, driving the development of advanced network solutions supporting electrical grid operation in real time.

You will play a key role in aligning R&D initiatives with business objectives, ensuring successful project execution, fostering innovation, and securing long‑term R&D capabilities to strengthen Hitachi Energy’s global position. This is a visible role in a large, world‑wide organization with close collaboration across functions and geographies.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Lead and develop a high‑performing R&D team, supporting competence growth and operational excellence
  • Drive deliveries that enable the energy transition and digitalization of power systems
  • Be an active part of the Network Manager development team (real‑time electrical grid operation)
  • Collaborate in a global environment with stakeholders across R&D, product management, and business
  • Influence system design, architecture, and implementation of software solutions
  • Ensure successful project execution aligned with timelines, budgets, and quality targets
  • Foster innovation by exploring future technologies, scenarios, and development strategies
  • Live Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for your actions while caring for colleagues and the business

Your background

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or another relevant field
  • Solid experience in software development within the IT industry
  • Previous leadership experience (line management, team lead or similar) is required
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), including CI/CD concepts
  • Deep understanding of code quality and solution quality aspects
  • Ability to understand and discuss software architecture on a conceptual and practical level
  • Experience working with SCRUM and agile software development methodologies
  • Experience in C# and/or C++ is considered a strong advantage
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken
