The opportunity

Hitachi Energy Transformer Business Unit in Greater China operates across 55 cities, employs over 1,900 staff, and manages 5 transformer manufacturing plants. More than 90% of its sales come from locally manufactured products. We offer a comprehensive portfolio of Transformers Products, Solutions and Services.  Transformers are essential in all electricity-related fields and applications, including power generation, transmission and distribution, oil, chemical and gas, industrial manufacturing, semiconductor and data centers, as well as building and transportation sectors.

How you’ll make an impact

  • You will be supporting the study of current state of art in the field of 2D and 3D simulation of transformers.

  • You will need to do analysis of performance of different parameters of dry transformers by means of 2D and 3D electromagnetic FEM calculations.

  • You will develop new automations for the assessment of products through electromagnetic simulations coupled with structural, thermomechanical and acoustic simulations.

  • You will run feasibility studies, develop new technical concepts, design new products and simulate their expected performances.

  • You will organize prototyping and testing activities to validate new technologies/products.

  • You will lead product and technology development projects in the field of Dry, Traction and Oil Distribution Transformer, delivering results on time and on budget at agreed scope and quality.

  • You will support the transfer of technology and knowledge from R&D to engineering department by writing design rules, preparing trainings and collaborating with design tools team.

  • You will provide technical support to other departments when needed (engineering, product management, marketing and sales etc.).

  • You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

  • You hold a degree in MSc or Ph.D in Electrical Engineering field.

  • 1+years of experience with M.Sc. graduates in Electrical Engineering is preferred.

  • Existing work experience in Electrical Engineering with particular focus on transformer design.

  • Advanced knowledge of transformer design and prediction of relevant performance such as leakage fields, stray losses, no-load losses, short-circuit forces, mutual inductances, and similar.

  • Experience in the finite element analysis and in the use of at least one of the following software: ANSYS Maxwell, COMSOL, Other FEM base electromagnetic simulation tool.

  • Knowledge of at least one of the following programming languages: Python, Matlab, C#.

  • Experience in electric testing of transformers and project management skills.

  • Action and result oriented mindset with innovation spirit, "out of the box" thinking and willingness to travel.

  • Proficiency in business level in verbal and written English.
