R&D Electrical Engineer

The opportunity

Hitachi Energy Transformer Business Unit in Greater China operates across 55 cities, employs over 1,900 staff, and manages 5 transformer manufacturing plants. More than 90% of its sales come from locally manufactured products. We offer a comprehensive portfolio of Transformers Products, Solutions and Services.  Transformers are essential in all electricity-related fields and applications, including power generation, transmission and distribution, oil, chemical and gas, industrial manufacturing, semiconductor and data centers, as well as building and transportation sectors.

How you’ll make an impact

1. You will propose, design and develop new technologies and products for dry-type transformers as part of the R&D global organization.

2. You will organize prototyping and testing activities to validate new technologies/products.

3. You will participate in maintaining existing and develop new technical standards and design tools for transformers.

4. You will lead and manage R&D projects self-driven on time, on budget, and on quality following Hitachi Energy internal standards and processes.

5. You will assess production processes and proactively identify gaps and areas of improvement.

6. You will be supporting global collaboration with scientists of Hitachi energy research team and R&D team, technology managers and engineers from the various factories.

7. You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

1. You will hold a bachelor's degree or above in electrical engineering or similar.

2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in R&D activities or engineering within the transformers industry.

3. Experience with design and/or testing of dry-type transformers will be an advantage.

4. Knowledge of the design, manufacturing, and testing of dry-type transformers.

5. Preferably you also have experience in, or ability to develop, project management skills.

6. Responsible team player with structured, proactive, self-driven and result oriented work approach.

7. Spirit of innovation, "out of the box" thinking.

8. Excellent in English both oral and written.
