Global Sustainability Market Engagement Manager

The Global Sustainability Market Engagement Manager enables the organisation to systematically anticipate, structure, and respond to sustainability‑related customer and stakeholder expectations.

The role supports the transition from reactive, ad‑hoc handling of sustainability requests to a proactive, structured, and insight‑driven approach, by developing shared response processes, facilitating cross‑functional alignment, and translating external market signals into strategic sustainability intelligence.

Key Responsibilities1. Market & Stakeholder Sustainability Intelligence
  • Capture, consolidate, and structure sustainability‑related expectations, requirements, and emerging topics from customers and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. regulators, investors, rating agencies).
  • Identify recurring themes, trends, and early signals with potential relevance for market access, competitiveness, and organisational risk.
  • Maintain a transparent and evolving overview of sustainability topics that are material or increasingly relevant from a market and stakeholder perspective.
2. Sustainability Request & Response Process Development
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve a structured process for managing sustainability‑related customer and stakeholder requests, in collaboration with relevant internal functions.
  • Clarify intake, coordination, prioritisation, escalation, and response pathways to ensure consistency, efficiency, and clarity.
  • Support definition of interfaces, roles, and ways of working across Sustainability, Marketing & Sales, Portfolio, Product Management, Supply Chain Management, Legal, and other functions, while respecting existing governance and decision rights.
3. Enable Consistent and Proactive Market Engagement
  • Support the development of guidance, reference materials, and response frameworks for recurring sustainability topics.
  • Help shift the organisation from case‑specific responses to anticipating and preparing for sustainability expectations likely to arise in future customer engagements.
  • Facilitate alignment on external sustainability messaging and positioning across regions and businesses.
4. Strategic Insight & Material Topic Input
  • Synthesise market‑derived sustainability insights and provide structured input to support:
    • Sustainability strategy discussions
    • Identification and prioritisation of material sustainability topics
    • Portfolio, offering, and capability development considerations
  • Contribute fact‑based insights on how external sustainability expectations evolve and what this implies for the organisation.
5. Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Enablement
  • Act as a connecting interface between the Sustainability function and customer‑facing as well as enabling functions.
  • Support Marketing & Sales and account teams with sustainability insights and background, particularly in strategic or complex customer contexts.
  • Facilitate collaboration and alignment without assuming ownership of commercial, portfolio, or contractual decisions.

Qualifications & Experience
  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in sustainability, strategy, market engagement, or related business functions
  • Strong understanding of sustainability topics relevant to industrial and energy‑related markets
  • Proven experience working across functions and regions within a complex, global organization
  • Ability to structure unstructured inputs and translate them into clear, actionable insights
  • Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills
