The Opportunity

Hitachi, Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Proposal Engineer to develop compelling and technically sound proposals for complex engineering projects. This role involves collaborating with sales, technical, and commercial teams to secure new business opportunities.

How will you make an impact

  • Lead the preparation of comprehensive technical and commercial proposals, ensuring alignment with client requirements and company capabilities.

  • Analyze Request for Proposals (RFPs), Invitations to Bid (ITBs), and other client documentation to identify key technical specifications and commercial terms.

  • Develop innovative and cost-effective technical solutions, collaborating closely with engineering, product, and R&D teams.

  • Estimate project costs, define the scope of work, and articulate value propositions for Hitachi's offerings.

  • Prepare detailed technical descriptions, project schedules, and resource plans for inclusion in proposals.

  • Conduct technical presentations and demonstrations to prospective clients, effectively communicating Hitachi's solutions.

  • Negotiate technical and commercial aspects of proposals with clients, ensuring successful project acquisition.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of proposal generation processes and tools.

  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and new technologies.


Your Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related field).

  • 5+ years of experience in proposal generation, technical sales, or project engineering within a relevant industry (e.g., energy, infrastructure, manufacturing).

  • Proven track record of successfully securing complex engineering projects through effective proposal development.

  • Strong technical understanding of relevant Hitachi products and solutions (e.g., power systems, industrial automation, transportation, IT solutions).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.

  • Proficiency in proposal management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
