Business R&D Experienced Professional

The opportunity

Hitachi Energy Transformer Business Unit in Greater China operates across 55 cities, employs over 1,900 staff, and manages 5 transformer manufacturing plants. More than 90% of its sales come from locally manufactured products. We offer a comprehensive portfolio of Transformers Products, Solutions and Services.  Transformers are essential in all electricity-related fields and applications, including power generation, transmission and distribution, oil, chemical and gas, industrial manufacturing, semiconductor and data centers, as well as building and transportation sectors.

Nearly half of our white-collar workforce comprises employees in engineering and scientific fields. Internally, we have targeted talent development programs for employees at different stages of their career development to build skills and competencies, foster training, support people to own career development, scale up organization for growth and execution.

How you’ll make an impact

1. You will develop specific measurement and test plans for different new R&D concepts on power transformer mock-ups, scale models and R&D prototypes, covering mechanical performance, insulation characteristics, temperature rise, short-circuit impedance, partial discharge, especially comprehensive analysis of strain and vibration and other critical mechanical parameters.

2. You will build, calibrate, and deploy measurement test systems and advanced sensing technologies (fiber optics measures, accelerometers, strain gauges, DIC). Conduct standardized test execution, and ensure the accuracy, repeatability and traceability of test data in high-voltage and high-mechanical stress environment.

3. You will conduct in-depth analysis of test data, identify design and process failure in transformer mock-ups, and put forward targeted technical improvement suggestions to support R&D project progress. Correlate empirical measurement data with structural FEA simulation to support performance upgrade.

4. You will develop and maintain automated data processing, signal filtering, and post-processing pipelines (utilizing tools as MATLAB or Python) Optimize measurement methods and test procedures in different scenarios, track advanced measurement technologies in the power transformer industry, and promote the improvement of internal R&D testing capabilities.

5. You will cooperate with R&D, design and engineering teams to participate in product performance evaluation, technical review and new product launch verification. Be familiar with test process and equipment operation of power transformers. Comply with IEC, IEEE and other international industry standards for test operations.

6. You will be responsible for ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

7. Living Hitachi Energy’s core values safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.

Your background

1. You hold a master’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, High Voltage and Insulation Technology, Mechatronics, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Electromagnetic Measurement, Power System and Automation or related majors.

2. Minimum 3 years of professional working experience in power transformer R&D, prototype testing, high-voltage measurement or related fields (structural/dynamic testing, material characterization); candidates with mock-up measurement experience are preferred.

3. Proficiency in various measurement tests of power transformers, including strain test, vibration test, partial discharge (PD), dielectric loss, temperature rise, DC resistance, short-circuit impedance, mechanical and electromagnetic performance testing, etc.

4. Hands-on experience with professional measurement instruments and test systems for power transformers, with strong capabilities in test system building and failure resolving.

5. Familiar with IEC, IEEE and other international standards for power transformer testing, with good data analysis and technical test report writing skills.

6. Fluent in English (written and spoken), capable of reading professional technical documents, communicating technical issues and writing test reports independently.
