Electrical Design Engineer

The Opportunity:

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Control Design Engineer for the Business Unit Transformers to join our innovative and forward-thinking team in the Global Engineering Center in Vadodara, India, you will play a crucial role in the development and design of innovative products and systems that meet our customer needs and industry standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project specifications are met while adhering to industry standards and design best practices. Your expertise in engineering principles and practices will contribute to optimizing designs for performance, functionality, and sustainability.

    How you’ll make an impact

    • Develop and refine detailed Controls design, including hardware and software specifications, for Distribution transformers.
    • Create and maintain comprehensive electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers to integrate control systems seamlessly.
    • Develop and support functional testing plans for new control cabinets, including on-site startup, calibration, and performance tuning.
    • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing control panels, identifying root causes of issues and implementing effective solutions.
    • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices in controls engineering, proposing and implementing innovative solutions.
    • Prepare detailed technical documentation, including functional specifications, test plans and work instructions.
    • Participate in design reviews and provide expert feedback to ensure designs meet project requirements, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.

    Your background

    • B.E / B. Tech Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a closely related field.
    • 2 to 8 Years working in controls & panel design, programming, and implementation in an industrial environment.      Candidates with higher experience also to be considered.
    • Experience with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
    • Solid knowledge of Electrical schematics; PID control, and motor control principles.
    • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and technical documentation.
    • Basic knowledge of IEEE, UL508 and NFPA70 standards.
    • Basic understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP/IP).
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
    • Ability to travel to other Hitachi factories when required.
