We are now looking for a skilled and experienced Financial Controller to manage our financial reporting ensuring accuracy, compliance and on time reporting for Hitachi Energy, Grid Integration business in Vaasa, Finland.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Manage period-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and management reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as Supply Chain Management and Project Management and Shared Service Centers regarding payables and receivables, general ledger and other accounting matters.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes in partnership with the Business Controller.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, corporate policies, GAAP, IFRS, and other applicable accounting standards.
  • Support internal and external audit activities and contribute to regulatory and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Research and resolve technical accounting matters to ensure accurate financial treatment and compliance.
  • Partner with the Business Controller and Project Controllers by providing financial analysis, insights, and guidance to support business decisions and project performance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance financial processes, reporting quality, and operational efficiency.


Your background

  • MSc degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Proven working experience as a Financial Controller or similar role, preferably within a large, multinational corporation.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures (GAAP and IFRS).
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English and Finnish is required; proficiency in Swedish is an advantage.
