Sales Engineer Grid Automation (f/m/d)

What we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced Sales Engineer in the segment Grid Automation for our business in the Benelux countries. You should be an experienced specialist in substation automation, protection and control and grid automation, with expert technical and commercial knowledge of this business. Preferably with experience of Hitachi Energy Grid Automation portfolio, like Hitachi Energy MicroSCADA, related protection and control, SLA's and Cyber Security. Experience in technical sales, tendering, cost calculations, EU tendering procedures and sales contracts. You will be responsible for the technical sales and communication with our key industrial and utility customers, our product and system factories, our engineering and project management and 3rd party suppliers.

This is a hybrid role, with possibility to work from our offices in Zaventem, Rotterdam and from your home-office. You report directly to the Market Manager Grid Automation Benelux.

The opportunity

We are looking for an individual with a passion for creating an exceptional customer experience. An ideal candidate will have excellent customer service, analytic and account management skills along with understanding and experience in Grid Automation products and systems. The aim of which is a significant contribution to the growth and success of our department.

How you'll make an impact

  • Organizing regular customer meetings and provide status updates to internal and external stakeholders

  • Acting as an advocate for the customer and effectively communicating feedback to and from technical teams dispersed globally

  • Translate the information from technical inspections into a detailed quotation

  • Preparation of quotations and calculations, for new business, service business and SLA’s. You ensure the preparation of technical and financial aspects of the offers, indicating prices and trading conditions

  • Research of customer technical specifications and requirements with current or potential technical specifications of company products

  • Develops potential technical specifications, pricing considerations and contract requirements

  • Work with internal Hitachi Energy tools like Salesforce, tendering and configuration tools

  • Managing and owning all aspects of customer success, while maintaining a holistic view of customer satisfaction

  • Identifies own training needs and undertakes Hitachi Energy training programs as directed by Management


Your background

  • Proven experience as a Technical Sales Engineer in Grid Automation is ideal (five years or more)

  • A master’s or bachelor’s degree in the field of electro/energy technology, or have an equivalent level, based on work experience in a technical (or technical sales) position

  • Excellent communication skills in English. Knowledge of Dutch and French is a valuable plus

  • Engineering, commercial, organizational, communication and account management skills

  • Ability to quickly establish customer relationships and trust and to provide an outstanding customer experience
