The Opportunity

The Business R&D Entry Professional will be a key member of the High Voltage Technology Centre team, responsible for performing product development testing in accordance with IEC and IEEE standards for high voltage products. The role is based in the Innovation Centre Test Lab, where the professional will support the engineering and execution of high voltage tests on both new and legacy products, including Circuit Breakers, Dis-connectors, and GIS. The position involves defining testing processes and procedures, developing test schedules, selecting appropriate test equipment, coordinating activities with internal laboratories, and preparing comprehensive test reports

How you’ll make an impact

  • Uphold the highest HSE and Quality standards within the laboratory, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Lead and perform Mechanical Endurance, Mechanical Load, Wind Load, and Tightness Testing in accordance with IEC and IEEE standards, ensuring accurate and reliable validation of high voltage products.
  • Execute all testing activities strictly as per approved standards, procedures, and test requests to maintain consistency and quality.
  • Provide timely and clear progress updates to requestors, enabling informed decision making throughout the testing cycle.
  • Identify functional issues during testing, propose effective solutions, and collaborate with requestors to optimize and refine test plans for maximum learning and value.
  • Prepare and deliver Initial Test Reports, coordinating with requestors for conclusions, clarifications, and final approval.
  • Continuously stay updated on relevant IEC, IEEE, and other applicable standards to ensure testing methods remain compliant and current.
  • Coordinate equipment calibration and preventive maintenance with the Calibration Department or equipment manufacturers to ensure high test accuracy and reliability.
  • Support the design, construction, and installation of test rigs or systems that enhance lab capabilities and improve operational efficiency.
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and independently manage projects ranging from minor assignments to major testing programs with minimal supervision.
  • Actively participate in design and safety reviews, contributing recommendations that strengthen safety, reliability, and performance.
  • Maintain a zero incident safety record by consistently applying safe work practices and promoting a strong safety culture.

Your background

  • BE in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or a Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory test equipment such as data acquisition systems, oscilloscopes, and analog/digital sensors.
  • Practical experience in conducting high voltage product testing for Circuit Breakers, Disconnectors/Earthing Switches, and GIS/PASS assemblies.
  • Good knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and NABL requirements.
  • Willingness to travel (approximately 5%) to perform tests at external laboratories.
  • Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, and other relevant international standards is preferred.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
