Discover the key moments of our Global CEO’s visit to Colombia

Features | Colombia | 21.03.2025 | 2 min read

Our Global CEO, Andreas Schierenbeck, recently visited Colombia, highlighting the country's potential in the energy sector and its strategic importance for the company. Noaman Amjad, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer & Regional Head of Japan, South America, and South Korea, along with Ramón Monrás, Country Managing Director for Latin America, also led the week's strategic agenda.

During the visit, we focused on strategic meetings in Medellín and Dosquebradas. Our CEO engaged with internal teams, clients, journalists, and other stakeholders to discuss industry projections, business challenges, and potential collaborations. This visit strengthened our relationships and allowed us to align on future goals and strategies.

"Colombia’s potential is immense, with renewable sources offering unique opportunities for a diversified energy mix. However, this should not be a rushed revolution, but rather a well-thought-out transition to ensure grid stability, energy security, and long-term affordability. A huge thank you to our team in Colombia! Their dedication and experience are fundamental to the success of our projects.

Andreas Schierenbeck, Global CEO Hitachi Energy.

In Medellín, we met with our key clients: Celsia, EPM, ISA, and ISAGEN. These meetings reaffirmed our commitment to supporting our partners' operations and demonstrated the global backing we provide when companies choose us as partners. It was also a day of high-level discussions with key business players, including exclusive interviews with Portafolio and Forbes, tier-1 media outlets in Colombia.

Additionally, we held a Town Hall Meeting for all team members in Colombia. Andreas traveled to Dosquebradas to visit the Transformer Factory. This meeting, which was broadcasted to all employees at other locations, provided an excellent opportunity for direct interaction with our CEO, allowing employees to share their ideas and suggestions. We are in a crucial region for Hitachi Energy's business. During the SAM Meeting—an annual strategic event focused on performance and key initiatives—we discussed the region’s growth potential. Colombia plays a pivotal role in South America due to its renewable energy potential. According to the Mining and Energy Planning Unit (UPME), the country's electricity demand could grow between 1.65% and 2.99% annually from 2023 to 2037 under a medium-term scenario.

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to this visit. We are confident that these meeting will further strengthen our collaboration and commitment to the company's objectives. The CEO's visit was a remarkable success, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration to achieve future successes and overcome challenges.
