R&D FPGA developer in power quality applications

The opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated R&D FPGA Developer to join our team at HITACHI ENERGY SWEDEN AB. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing FPGA-based solutions for advanced power quality applications, contributing to the next generation of energy management technologies.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Design, implement, and verify complex FPGA architectures for real-time control, data acquisition, and signal processing in power quality systems.

  • Develop VHDL/Verilog code, simulation testbenches, and verification strategies to ensure functional correctness and performance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including power electronics engineers, software developers, and system architects, to define requirements and integrate FPGA solutions.

  • Perform hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and system-level debugging of FPGA designs.

  • Optimize FPGA designs for performance, resource utilization, and power consumption.

  • Document design specifications, implementation details, and test reports.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest FPGA technologies, development tools, and industry trends.

  • Contribute to the full product development lifecycle, from concept to deployment.

Your background

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in FPGA development using VHDL or Verilog for industrial or embedded applications.

  • Experience with Xilinx or Lattice FPGA development tools.

  • Proficiency in simulation and verification methodologies (e.g., QuestaSim, ModelSim).

  • Python/TCL scripting and automation knowledge.

  • Knowledge of power electronics concepts is advantageous but not mandatory.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
