Country Communications & Government Relations Manager, Denmark

Hitachi Energy is seeking a strategic and proactive Country Communications & Government Relations Manager to lead communications and public affairs activities in Denmark. In this role, you will strengthen relationships with policymakers, media, industry associations, customers, and other stakeholders while supporting business growth and enhancing Hitachi Energy's position in the Danish energy sector.

Reporting to the Head of Communications & Government Relations, Nordics, you will work closely with the Danish leadership team, local business units, and colleagues across the Nordic and global organization. You will drive government relations initiatives, executive communications, stakeholder engagement, media relations, and thought leadership activities while monitoring political and regulatory developments relevant to our business.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an integrated communications and government relations strategy aligned with Danish business priorities and broader Nordic, European, and global objectives.

  • Advise senior leadership on political, regulatory, reputational, and communications opportunities and risks, providing strategic recommendations and stakeholder insights.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government authorities, industry associations, policymakers, and other key stakeholders across the Danish energy ecosystem.

  • Monitor political, regulatory, and legislative developments affecting the business and provide timely analysis and guidance to leadership.

  • Contribute to EU advocacy by bringing Danish perspectives into European advocacy and engage Danish stakeholders on relevant EU legislative and regulatory developments.

  • Lead internal and external communications activities including media relations, thought leadership, social media, digital communications, and crisis communications.

  • Represent Hitachi Energy in relevant industry forums, conferences, working groups, consultations, and stakeholder engagement initiatives.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Political Science, Public Affairs, Law, Energy Policy, Economics, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum seven years of experience within public affairs, government relations, strategic communications, media relations, or corporate communications.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing integrated communications and stakeholder engagement strategies linked to business objectives.

  • Strong understanding of Denmark's political and regulatory landscape with the ability to engage credibly with government institutions and industry stakeholders.

  • Excellent analytical and writing skills with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, impactful messaging and strategic advice.

  • Fluent in both Danish and English, with outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

What We Are Looking For

You are a confident and collaborative professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and can effectively navigate complex stakeholder landscapes. You combine strategic judgement with hands-on execution and are comfortable influencing senior leaders across a global matrix organization. Experience within the energy, infrastructure, industrial technology, or another regulated sector is highly valued. Knowledge of Denmark's evolving energy system, electrification agenda, and EU policymaking processes will be considered an advantage. Experience with agency management, events, campaigns, or communications programs in international organizations is also welcomed.
