ABB conducts Cable Accessories Day 2016, Distributing power all over the network

To provide an opportunity for customers to experience ABB's product portfolio, life-cycle services and the latest innovations on cable accessories, ABB, represented by Power Grids High Voltage (PGHV) business unit in Indonesia, conducted one-day technical seminar: Cable Accessories Day 2016 - Distributing Power All Over the Network on February 24, 2016, with agenda to embrace customers and explore business opportunity. During the event, ABB’s portfolio of cable accessories from 6 kV to 420 kV was formally launched. As required for use of 20 kV cable accessories in utilities segment, ABB has already completed local type test and certified by local testing authorizes (PLN LMK).

Over 70 customers from Utility, Industrial, EPC and Cable Manufacturer attended the product launched of our medium (6 kV - 24 kV) and high voltage (36 kV, 70 kV, 150 kV, 245 kV, 420 kV) portfolio of cable accessories. The program, which was supported by High Voltage Product Group, were aimed to provide a two way interactive session for both customers and ABB experts.

The seminar was opened by Dodon Ramlie, Director of ABB Sakti Industri, followed by customer voice session by Agus Kuswardoyo, Distribution Manager of PLN (Persero), PT for West Java Region which emphasized government planning for electrical development of 35 GW as well as total solutions for cable analysis condition as preventive management. The session was followed by ABB's presentations from Ahmad Sehabudin, Territory Marketing Manager Cable Accessories and Olle Jarleborg, Area Manager.

This program covered overview and technical requirements for cable joints, termination and cable accessories for Medium and High Voltage including important parameters with regard to water sealing, electric stresses, corona effect, creepage currents, insulation interface, shrink back, bending force, UV radiation, mechanical impacts, earth connections and conductor connections, etc. The seminar also covered the application of such items for plug in terminations for GIS and transformers, applicable standards, training and certification requirements for installation and testing.

The day turned out to be very interactive with questions flying in the air during the presentations. The audience were enthusiastic in following demo installation termination session. The demo showed to audience how cold shrink is easy to be installed in termination using latest technology and innovation from ABB. The seminar also displayed cable accessories products e.g. jointing, termination and plug in separable connector, etc product displayed were from 1.1 kV and 420 kV range.

Besides being a platform for communication with customers, Cable Accessories Day 2016 was also expected to help establish a good business relationship with our customers. The event was seen as very important for power utility and industrial market and its future development.
